NOW I FINALLY KNOW WHY “HEROES” IS SOOO FRIGGEN AWESOME!

“The TV Set” is awesome. No, I’m serious. “The TV Set” is an awesome movie. It is the best comedy released this year that isn’t made by Judd Apatow. I never thought that I would ever say this, but it is true. You try watching this movie with a straight face, I triple doggy dog dare you. “The TV Set” is definitely right near the single digits of my Top 25 for the year. I can say that one with a serious face also, if you really wanted to know.

Mike is a creator for a television dramedy called “The Wexler Chronicles,” based off of events from his life, and already, just in the audition process, he’s already losing his damn mind. The people that he likes are the people that everyone else doesn’t like, so already, he thinks his cast is a piece of crap, starring the most enthusiastic actor ever but can’t act his way out of Dane Cook’s a$$, Zach Harper. The producer, Lenny, wants to change the plot because she thinks the plot is too serious. That’s all I’m going to give you. You guys don’t deserve any more plot detail.

Now see, “The TV Set” is one of the funniest movies that I have seen this year, but there is a reason to it. It isn’t the jokes, because the film is totally unintentionally funny. It’s silly, and just stupid. What is better is that “The TV Set” is not meant to be taken seriously, but it is still based off of (somewhat) a true story. Director Jake Kasdan… you may recognize his name… Earlier in this review, I mentioned that this is the funniest comedy without Judd Apatow’s name in it. Jake Kasdan is a friend of Judd Apatow’s, and directed films like “Orange County,” “Zero Effect,” the upcoming “Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story,” and was one of the creators of the canceled TV shows “Undeclared” and “Freaks and Geeks.” Now I know why I like the movie so much.

“The TV Set” stars the likes of David Duchovny, Sigourney Weaver, Ioan Gruffard, Judy Greer, Lucy Davis (from “Shaun of the Dead” fame), Fran Kranz, and Justine Bateman. They all do a fantastic job, but the one I got to give kudos to is Fran Kranz. I don’t even know who the hell this guy is, but whoever it is, he is really freaking awesome. You just want to hate his character, but you can’t. The guy is such a pain in the a$$. It really makes you think if this guy acts like this on screen, because goshdarnit, he is so good at it.

If I ever saw a movie like “The TV Set” again, I will probably s#*! myself. It is such a great film that even I wouldn’t want to see a movie like this again. When I revisit it for my top 25 films (and you know it will be there), I will totally forget about the first time I’ve seen the film. This review is going to be cut short, because I don’t think I should have anything spoiled here. “The TV Set” is one of the funniest movies that none of you guys have seen, and hopefully, after this review, you will go right out and rent the darn movie. Any of you guys who have seen “Drop Box,” “Knocked Up,” “Clerks,” and “Freaks and Geeks,” you will be obsessed with this movie.

HEY! THAT’S JUST FOR ME!
