Puss in Boots
2011
Reviewer: Torrence Fallen
Director: Chris Miller
Cast: Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton, Amy Sedaris, Constance Marie, Guillermo del Torro

Puss in Boots is animation in it's prime! I went with my two…very hyper, 2 and 4 year olds, who typically have a hard time sitting through a film. This mother is happy to announce that her kids sat through the entire movie (minus one bathroom break) in their seats…as happy as they could be!

Our cast is all-star, and bring adventure to the film. Antonio Banderias stars as Puss. His voice makes us fall in love with our furry character over and over throughout the film. Zach Galifianakis is Humpty Dumpty…Puss's old friend, whom he has reconnected with. Salma Hayek plays Kitty Soft Paws, Puss's equal in the female feline fighter world. Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris play Jack and Jill, the evil twosome who challenge and taunt our hero with their bewitching toys and antics.

We are lucky enough in this film to see how Puss got his boots and hat. After being a naughty kitty growing up, we see a heroic event causing the towns people to regard him as a hero! He proceeds to do good for the town until one day, his “brother” and great friend Humpty Dumpty gets him into trouble by tricking him into robbing a bank. His sadly flees the city he called home, and was running ever since.

Puss meets up with Humpty Dumpty and they quest for the magic beans, that has always been Humpty's dream. We go through many adventurous escapades, and question who is loyal to whom. In the end, good always prevails.

Puss in Boots is a must see for children and adults alike. The animation is spectacular, even better in 3-D. The story is great, and the fact that we knew Puss from Shrek, made us love and route for him with all we had. Great film!
