CSI Season Premier
(2011)

Reviewer: Ricardo Barberini
Written by: Gavin Harris
Director: Alec Smight
Cast: Ted Danson, Marg Helgenberger, George Eads, Paul Guilfoyle, Jorga Fox, Eric Szmanda

Well, Larry Fishburne is gone and the new season has dragged in another has-been in the person of Ted Danson as DB Russell the new supervisor. Don't know where they find these actors.  With his white bleached hair and toupee, Ted Danson looks like a gangly spider dangling from a torn web.  Not to mention that with that sick smile and oversize glasses, he looks remarkably like “Haskell” the serial killer who met his demise at the hand of Larry Fishburne last season.

Sporting super nerdy square glasses and acting like a rethread from the sixties, Danson is the guy who is supposed to save the series from cancellation. If the producers wanted an oddball, they should have chosen Wallace Langham to be the new center point!

In the first episode, two set of bodies are discovered.  The most interesting one is the death of a young man by stabbing on board the Las Vegas tramline.  The story as usual is convoluted with someone stabbing the young man and a cowboy trying to shoot the shooter and a bullet ricocheting into the roof and killing an octopus that a woman was carrying as a sex toy for her performance at a sex show! To top it all the only real witness is a nice young boy who is in shock but that does not stop DB Russell from questioning him.

The rest of the actors that worked so amazingly well together, seem to be in disarray.  As far as the characters are concerned, they seem to falter and waver though this episode.  The cohesiveness of the old is gone and this maybe the last season for this series.  Only time will tell.  My suggestion is get rid of Ted Danson and bring Bill Peterson back at any cost.  Bill has not done anything lately and he may be eager to get his name back in the limelight again.
