Gene Hackman and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio star, a father/daughter attorneys pitted against one another in a Class Action lawsuit filed against a Fictional Car Company that produced a car with an electrical defect. Hackman's character "Jedediah Ward" is a famous civil liberties lawyer, known for taking on the big corporate bean counters, his daughter "Margaret Ward" played by Mastrantonio, represents the bean counters. A gripping courtroom battle ensues with a sub plot dealing with the father/daughter relationship and the events following the sudden death of the wife/mother character played by Joanna Merlin. The cast is sprinkled with a bunch a great character actors, that you will recognize including Lawrence Fishburne (then known as Larry Fishburne), Matt Clark as the judge, and Jan Rubes as a wacky scientist and witness for the Plaintiff. I am sure that anyone that digs a legal thriller will enjoy it immensely!! |
