“The "Best of Times" starring Robin Williams and Kurt Russell is a Comedy about how a one time failure rises up out of liturgy and redeems himself of past failure. In fact, it is almost like being able to go back in time. Jack, Jack, Jack....Robin Williams plays Jack Dundee, a Bank Vice President in Taft CA, married to the Bank Presidents daughter, who can't let go of the fact he dropped a pass in a 1972 High School Football game, that would have beaten his town's Hated rivals in Bakersfield. Kurt Russell plays Reno Hightower, now a Van Specialist and the hot shot quarterback from 13 years ago that threw the pass. Jack dreams up the idea to get the games participants from 13 years ago together and "PLAY THE GAME AGAIN". Some of the best parts of the movie depict how Jack connives and cons all the old and now out of shape players to come back just one more time. His Father in Law, the Bank President and his wife's DAD, is the leader of the HATED Bakersfield team. Donald Moffat plays the Bank President to a tee. This is a very funny and entertaining movie and if you have ever been to Taft, you understand why Bakersfield usually wins every year 82-0. The rest of supporting cast really helps make this a darn good movie. Side splitting fun!! |
